Two pivotal moments in a speaker’s life:

At the beginning of a six-hour seminar a participant came up to me and said, “If I can get one good idea this will be a great day.

My immediate reaction was, “I can give you one good idea in a minute and we can all go home.”

As I thought about what the person had said, I realized that most people can’t implement a dozen new behaviors after a seminar.

Why not give people one good idea at a time and let them digest it?

After a speech at a major convention, a person came up to me and said, “I liked your speech, but I’ve got to tell you, I learn more at the bar after the speech than I do from any of you speakers.

“You do?” I said.

“That’s when my partner and I discuss all of the great ideas we have gathered during the sessions and discuss what will work with our team and in our marketplace.”
